Project Description

The Play Fair Community Center will allow Kids Play International to deepen their impact and expand their reach as they bring a community together through sports and education.  The community center will be a multi-use facility and resource hub used as an essential tool to help Kids Play educate the Gatagara community on the importance of working together to create better, more equal relationships between girls, boys, women and men.  The space will be used for educational learning, social occasions, programming, meeting, recreational sports venue and an overall resource hub.

 

The community center sits at the front western edge of the site prominent from the existing guest house and football field with the main entry angled towards the guest house.  The community center features girl’s and boy’s locker rooms, a multipurpose room with chalkboards and basketball hoops, equipment storage, storage and a coach’s office.  The design utilizes perforated brick walls, plaster brick walls, concrete structure and frame, steel trusses, clerestory ventilation and light, windows, slated doors, wood joists, rafters and purlins and corrugated sheet metal roofs with corrugated polycarbonate skylights.

• Research into the local and regional building codes if any are applicable and the building materials available within budget and accessible to the site.

• Design variation for possible implementation of a tent structure for the multipurpose main building.
